Conflicts and Reminders

Serve checks proposed assignments against unavailable periods and other scheduled assignments.

Availability conflicts

An availability conflict means the volunteer marked some or all of the event time as unavailable. Contact the volunteer before proceeding.

Overlapping assignments

An overlap means the person already has an assignment whose event time conflicts with the proposed assignment. Review the other team, event, and position before deciding what to do.

Conflict overrides

Authorized leaders may be able to proceed with a required Override reason. Use overrides only when the assignment is genuinely workable—for example, when coordination has already occurred. The reason is recorded in the audit history.

Reminders

Serve can automatically:

  • Follow up on unanswered requests after the configured delay.
  • Remind accepted volunteers before a published event.

Leaders can also send a manual reminder from the team schedule. Manual reminders target relevant requested or accepted assignments and use each person's enabled channels.

See Schedule conflicts for the rule summary.
